Kokoro Mapping Chart

Pictured above is my groups mapping chart. Starting at the very top left, one of the main themes that we chose to represent through this visual is loneliness. To depict this theme, there is a group of people, and on the side is a misanthrope. Directly below that visual is the connections between the characters and a list of each characters traits. To show the connections, arrows connect each character to another, and written on those arrows is their relation. We also used this chart to express a vocabulary word, as we implied that Sensei was a misanthrope. Now, below that connection chart is flowers that illustrate the aspect of flower arrangements in Japanese culture during the Meiji Era. The tree on the poster represents the literary device of foreshadowment as nature and trees are commonly used in the novel to foreshadow the mood of future events. Now going back to the top, on the right is three settings that occurred in the novel. We first chose to illustrate the beach because that was where Sensei and the narrator met. Then we chose to draw the bullet train because that is when the narrator made it clear to the reader that he would chose Sensei over his own family. And lastly, we chose to illustrate a grave because Sensei consistently visited K's grave. Now below the three illustrations is our big overarching question in the thought bubble. And finally, below that is our illustration of a question brought up from padlet and our quote from the novel that we thought best summed up the work.
