This Oreo creation represents the character Ying-Ying, from the novel The Joy Luck Club. She is looking at her own reflection. Throughout the book, Ying-Ying is depicted as a character who struggles to find her identity, thus she constantly puts up a front, pretending she's someone that she's not. So through my Oreo art piece, the viewer can see that one of the faces is crying. This ultimately shows how she's truly feeling inside, being that she does not know who she is a a person or what she wants out of life. The other face is the mask that she puts on and shows the rest of the world. Therefore, the piece above depicts the differentiation between Ying-Ying's personality when she's either out with other people or home alone.
Favorite Peer Creation:
I loved this piece because it was so simple yet so cute at the same time! Moreover, the Oreo character's actions and words truly convey the meaning of the word diabolical.
